Description
Lemon grass is the common name for Cymbopogon Citratus. It is a tropical plant native to South Asia and it is now introduced to many tropical regions. Organic Lemon Grass is often sold in stem form. While you can grow it in warmer temperate regions, such as the UK, it is not hardy to frost.
Its fragrant leaves are traditionally used in cooking, particularly for lechon and roasted chicken. You can brew the the dried leaves into a tea, either alone or as a flavouring in other teas, imparting a flavour reminiscent of lemon juice but with a mild sweetness without significant sourness or tartness.
Organic Lemon Grass is loaded with antioxidants, which help protect against oxidative stress, one of the causes of heart disease and cancer.
